Contemporary jeweller Ari Athans opened her allery/workshop in New Farm in 2004. She produces 3 new jewellery ranges a year as well as commissions and exhibitions pieces.
Ari works primarily with stone and precious metal with a strong preference for unusual gem cuts and geologic samples such as basalt, raw diamonds, emerald crystals and quartz combined with silver, gold, platinum and steel
Her inspiration combines science, textiles, photography and her greek heritage. She best describes her work as devastatingly simple with a post modern twist.
Ari studied geology at UTS in sydney and worked in the mining industry before turning her energy to jewellery. A technical understanding of the materials she works with has had a profound effect on her designs. Since her move to sydney 11 years ago Ari has built up a strong local following of her work.
Ari is currently part of 'Australian Freestyle' exhibition that is touring nationally and internationally.
