Art Installation

An art practice that investigates ‘interaction as a sculptural strategy’, creating work that is ‘shaped by behaviour’ of participation.

A LIVED EXPERIENCE

Nicole's current series of work of landscapes aim to demolish the demarcation between public, museological + cultural spaces whereby the work itself develops an interstitial intimacy, creating for the viewer / audience a short-lived experience of ‘in-between’, temporality. Such interaction between object and subject raises the connection between viewer and artwork to an intimate level.

This series demands an increasingly intense sensorial and psychic investment from the spectator targeting the spectators subjectivity. Making them go far beyond the simple notion of participation while striving for the existence of the work to be made into art, one spectator at a time. The lived body in this experience is beyond all those other bodies, though paradoxically it includes them: it is the body of the sitter, the toucher where you can make and unmake yourself it is from this outside that a new inside is produced.

Creating a new topography.

‘As far as the idea of participation is concerned … it is not participation for participation’s sake … it is thought and expression, as it is all connected from the option, the act, to immanence as a means of communication from the outside inside, true participation is open.’
