Giselle Di Paolo was born in 1982 in Johannesburg and immigrated to Brisbane in 1995.
In 2004 she graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Social Work and subsequently became employed in community development projects across Brisbane. In 2006 Giselle relocated to Melbourne and became rapidly emersed in a range of community based arts projects.
Her drawing entitled Journey Face was part of the 2006 Women’s Salon: Sister Ships exploring issues of migration at the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick. In 2007 Giselle contributed to Free Range Drawing an art installation at the Princes Hill Community Centre. Her layered chalk drawings on the building’s outer walls and surrounding cobblestone laneway took two months to complete and represented stages of person and community transformation.
In 2008 Giselle returned to Brisbane and she is currently working on a proposal to exhibit a collection of her paintings. She believes “art is beautiful complex mystery to unravel”.
