contemporary multi-arts

Brisbane Powerhouse is a contemporary multi-arts, dining and conference venue nestled on the beautiful banks of Brisbane River beside New Farm Park. The former power station has become a distinct Brisbane landmark, both as a stunning industrial creation and as a hub for everything creative, including theatre, music, comedy, film, visual arts, festivals and ideas.

Funded by Brisbane City Council (BCC), Brisbane Powerhouse opened as an arts centre in 2000 after its 30-year reign as a derelict power station. Bold industrial structures laced with European flair, raw textures and preserved graffiti walls combine to create the perfect artistic space and have earned the building a heritage listing.

Brisbane Powerhouse is a proud supporter of Pecha Kucha Brisbane, fostering and cultivating the Brisbane design scene.

photography

Camera Obscura Photography is an architectural photography collaboration between two partners Dave Hanson (MArch) and Jon Henzell (BArch Hons). Each job is attended by both photographers as they assist one another with the set up of images and photograph different spaces concurrently. This unique collaboration allows us to produce a larger number of photographs during a session producing a greater scope of images from which the job lot can be selected. This means that we can capture close up details and wider spatial/formal images simultaneously making the most of favourable light conditions.

Our architectural studies and experience working within architectural practice gives us insight and knowledge into the field of architecture and architectural photography which goes beyond the technicalities of quality image capture. Our passion for architecture, design and photography means that it is a pleasure for us to offer our services.

Services:

Digital Photographs: - Small Format (35mm Equiv.), High Resolution (to 4288x2848 300 dpi) TIFF format including post processing.

all the best pieces of the Valley are coming together

As the first residential tower proposed for Fortitude Valley’s gateway precinct, Mosaic offers an exciting new way to experience inner-city living.

Designed by award-winning architects Cox Rayner, the $150 million mixed-use development will comprise a tower of 250 apartments sitting above a 3 level podium of restaurants, bars, retail and boutique offices. Not just another apartment block, Mosaic has been designed to give buyers room to live outside their apartments’ four walls with a residents’ bicycle centre, ground level forecourt, pocket park, outdoor gym and balcony bars.

Gamble McKinnon Green’s landscape architecture has been designed to show that people who choose high rise living can still have access to lush gardens and productive green spaces. The precinct will have a decidedly green profile with hanging gardens on each floor, shaded courtyards and community vegetable plots on a rooftop garden terrace, complete with an organic worm farm.

Mosaic is proud to support Pecha Kucha.

PETER HARDING + PHEOBE
Designer

Peter Harding + Phoebe

Peter Harding is a designer currently based in Brisbane. Phoebe is a lamp also currently based in Brisbane.

Peter believes that there needs to well designed, affordable products on the market. Phoebe is a product that is trying to be well designed and as affordable as possible.

Peter believes that it’s worth subjecting the market to an original idea. Phoebe is a lamp unlike any Peter has seen before.

Peter thinks that 2D patterns and designs like wall paper and fabrics make great lamp coverings. Phoebe is a lamp who’s appearance is rendered or animated by an insert of patterned paper or fabric.

Peter believes that if you look at something every day and it’s always the same it can become a little boring. Phoebe is able to be very easily changed to have a new look by simply removing one decorative insert and replacing it with another.

Peter believes that most people have creative desires and some of those people would like to act on them more. Phoebe gives people the opportunity to unleash their creativity by finding or creating new outfits for her to wear.

Peter thinks that Pecha Kucha is a good way for people to meet Phoebe. Phoebe is happy to be the door prize at Pecha Kucha.

Phoebe is available through Artisan - 381 Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley QLD
