About US

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of ‘chit chat’, PechaKucha rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea:

20 images x 20 seconds.

PechaKucha was founded in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in more than 1,000 cities around the world. The strict format makes presentations concise and very visual, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.

A small team of local architects have been organising PechaKucha Nights in Brisbane since 2007. Four times a year we’re organizing regular editions which take place at the Brisbane Powerhouse and other inspiring venues across the city. Moreover, we host and curate special PechaKucha Nights on invitation for organizations like Brisbane Open House, the Asia Pacific Architecture Forum and the Emerging Architects Network. In case you’re interested in working together, drop us an email.

To ensure a high quality of our events, we scout and invite 90% of the PechaKucha presenters ourselves. All year long we’re actively looking for great work, innovative ideas and talented people — online and offline. Of course, we’re always happy to receive applications! Feel free to contact us in case you’re interested in presenting at PechaKucha Brisbane.
